His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, convened a pivotal coordination meeting to review the outcomes of Dubai's Traffic Safety Strategy.
The session underscored the collaborative efforts to bolster safety across the emirate's transport networks, particularly emphasizing the upcoming Blue Line project of the Dubai Metro.
Acknowledging the robust partnership between RTA and Dubai Police, Al Tayer lauded their joint efforts in advancing the objectives of the Traffic Safety Strategy. He highlighted the significant reduction in traffic-related fatalities, underscoring RTA's commitment to achieving a "Zero Fatalities" vision, aiming to position Dubai as a global leader in traffic safety.
Lieutenant General Al Marri echoed these sentiments, emphasizing Dubai Police's dedication to enhancing security and safety on the roads. He praised the joint initiatives that have contributed to lowering traffic accident fatalities, citing effective enforcement measures and extensive awareness campaigns as key drivers of success.
The meeting also focused on the progress of the Dubai Traffic Safety Strategy 2022-2026, encompassing comprehensive pillars of enforcement, engineering, awareness, and management systems. Both parties celebrated surpassing the annual targets for 2023, achieving a record-low fatality rate of 1.6 deaths per 100,000 people.
Discussions included Dubai Police's requirements for ensuring the safety of the Blue Line project, a vital addition to Dubai's metro network set to serve major urban centers and alleviate traffic congestion. The project is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and economic growth across the emirate.
