Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) scooped a regional award under the category of Transport Project of the Year 2022 at the MEED Projects Awards 2022.
The MEED Projects Awards 2022, organised in partnership with Mashreq Bank that recognises accomplishments of individuals and organisations in successful projects across the MENA region, was dedicated to this sector considering its contribution to improving well-being and supporting the economy.
The Commercial and Affairs and Investment Department has clinched this award for the Route 2020 project for investing retail, commercial and advertising assets in 7 stations, namely: Jebel Ali Interchange Station, The Gardens, Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai Investments Park and Expo. These stations feature contemporary designs and architectural patterns inspired by natural elements of Earth, Water, Fire and Air.
Route 2020 project is considered a successful infrastructure investment for its huge role in moving people to the site of Expo 2020 and its contribution to the integration of mobility means in Dubai.
Route 2020 aimed to enhance financial sustainability and passenger experience through the integrated development of commercial assets. The seven stations are equipped with high-resolution LED screens covering a total area of 239 square metres along the side walls and on the circular pillars of stations, which enriches the passenger's transportation experience.
The project incorporated the trending technology and automation of commercial assets of stations, including a continuous digital transformation of these assets ranging from fixed media to digital screens.
