Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has commenced Phase II of its project to upgrade waiting areas at key marine transport stations across the city.

This phase includes enhancements at Al Fahidi, Baniyas, Al Seef, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Bluewaters stations.

The upgrades aim to improve customer satisfaction through modern, air-conditioned waiting areas, dedicated spaces for People of Determination, and design elements that reflect Dubai’s maritime heritage. Inspired by traditional wooden abras, the architectural concept blends cultural identity with modern design.

Khalaf Belghuzooz Al Zarooni, Director of Marine Transport at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader master plan to enhance marine infrastructure and service quality. The project also strengthens connections between residential communities, tourist destinations, and other public transport modes, including the metro, bus, and tram networks.

The stations will feature advanced security systems, fire alarms, and comply with the Dubai Universal Design Code, ensuring full accessibility. By offering an inclusive and comfortable environment, RTA aims to make marine transport more appealing while supporting Dubai’s vision for sustainable and integrated mobility.
