RTA Completes Al Khail Road Development Project Across Seven Key Locations

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the Al Khail Road Development Project, significantly improving the city's road infrastructure.

The project included the construction of five bridges spanning 3,300 metres and widening roads over 6,820 metres across seven key locations: Al Jaddaf, Business Bay, Zabeel, Meydan, Al Quoz 1, Ghadeer Al Tair, and Jumeirah Village Circle.

Serving 1.5 million residents, the project contributes to a 30% reduction in travel time and increases the capacity of existing intersections and bridges, now able to accommodate 19,600 vehicles per hour. Traffic flow has been enhanced, with the project addressing bottlenecks at interchanges and improving overall safety.

Notably, RTA employed an innovative construction strategy, reducing the project timeline by 80%, from 18 months to just 9 months. A workforce of 5,000 engineers and labourers, aided by 650 machines, logged over six million work hours to complete the project on schedule.

As one of Dubai’s primary arterial roads, Al Khail Road connects Business Bay to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The improvements serve to strengthen parallel road corridors like Sheikh Zayed Road and Emirates Road.

Each location witnessed tailored upgrades, such as the construction of bridges in Zabeel, Meydan, and Jumeirah Village Circle, and road widening in Al Jaddaf and Business Bay. These changes have greatly improved traffic flow and enhanced capacity, particularly during peak hours.

The Al Khail Road Development Project is a key milestone in Dubai’s efforts to modernize its infrastructure and streamline connectivity across the city.
