Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has completed Al Rowaiyah Street, a 3.5-kilometre corridor that directly links Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, delivering faster travel times and improved access for several rapidly growing districts across Dubai.

The new road provides direct entry and exit points to both arterial routes, serving key communities including Nadd Hessa, Dubai International Academic City, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Warsan 4. The scheme forms part of RTA’s broader programme to upgrade the emirate’s road network in line with urban expansion, population growth, and rising mobility demand.

As part of the project, the existing Knowledge and Human Development Authority roundabout on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street was converted into a signalised intersection to improve traffic safety and operational efficiency. Dedicated cycling tracks extending two kilometres were also developed, supporting healthy lifestyles and encouraging the use of soft mobility options.

The improvements have increased traffic capacity on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street by up to 40 percent and cut travel time to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from 10 minutes to just four minutes, representing a 60 percent reduction.

RTA estimates the project will benefit more than 80,000 residents by 2030, supporting smoother traffic flow and stronger connectivity between residential, educational, commercial, and service areas.

Al Rowaiyah Street is now positioned as a key component of Dubai’s road infrastructure network, enhancing mobility across some of the emirate’s most important growth corridors.
