Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed street lighting projects in Umm Suqeim 1, Abu Hail, and Al Baraha as part of its ambitious 2024–2026 Street Lighting Plan.

This initiative aims to illuminate 40 areas across Dubai by the end of 2026, enhancing road safety and sustainability while aligning with Dubai’s urban development goals.

Hussain Al Banna, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA, highlighted the use of smart and innovative technologies in the completed projects.

“We have installed 959 poles, 1,010 environmentally friendly LED lighting units, and laid 47,140 metres of underground cables in these areas,”

he stated. The advanced lighting systems are designed to enhance traffic safety for pedestrians and vehicles while promoting energy efficiency.

Ongoing projects include lighting enhancements in Mirdif, Umm Suqeim 2 and 3, and Al Manara, among other areas. These involve the installation of 763 poles, 764 LED lighting units, and 48,170 metres of underground cables. Future phases in 2025 will cover regions such as Al Mamzar, Al Quoz Residential Areas, and Hor Al Anz, while 2026 plans extend to Business Bay, Al Jaddaf, and Hatta, among others.

The initiative underscores RTA’s commitment to modernizing Dubai’s infrastructure and meeting the city’s growing demands. By adopting sustainable practices and cutting-edge technologies, the authority aims to make Dubai’s neighborhoods safer, more attractive, and vibrant for residents and visitors alike.
