Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a series of traffic enhancements in Business Bay, significantly boosting road capacity, safety, and traffic flow in one of the city’s busiest districts.
The upgrades, part of RTA’s broader infrastructure development plan, target key routes that connect Business Bay to Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road. Designed to accommodate Dubai’s rapid growth, the improvements aim to streamline movement for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.
A major element of the project involved converting the street parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road from a two-way, two-lane configuration into a one-way dual carriageway. This change doubled the road’s capacity and reduced conflict points, enhancing both safety and traffic efficiency.
At the intersection of Al Mustaqbal Street and Al Khaleej Al Tejari 1 Street, a new 100-metre storage lane was added to improve right-turn capacity towards First Al Khail Street by 50%, reducing congestion and wait times.
RTA also reorganised the service road near the towers along Al Mustaqbal Street, introducing an additional lane to handle higher traffic volumes. This adjustment increased the road’s capacity by 50% and improved traffic flow through the area.
Finally, the entry point to the bridge on Al Mustaqbal Street over the canal was expanded from one lane to two, easing bottlenecks during peak hours and enhancing access to First Al Khail Street.
These measures form part of RTA’s commitment to improving urban mobility and supporting Dubai’s ongoing development.
