Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed a series of traffic improvements at four key locations within the Al Safa 1 Schools Complex.
These enhancements are part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency of Dubai's road network and elevate safety standards.
The upgrades include the widening of entry and exit points, the introduction of traffic-calming measures such as new traffic lights, and pedestrian crossings. These changes are designed to ensure smoother traffic flow and improved safety for all road users, including residents, students, and service providers.
Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at the Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA, emphasized the significance of these improvements, highlighting their impact on the local community.
“These enhancements are expected to benefit around 60,000 residents of the neighborhood, as well as students and service providers. By adding a 255-metre lane on the service road from the Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Hadiqa Road junction, we anticipate a 20% reduction in travel time to the Al Safa 1 Schools Complex,”
he noted.
Further improvements include the creation of 22 parallel parking slots near Al Safa and Al Ittihad Schools, aimed at easing congestion during peak hours. Additionally, the exit to Al Wasl Street has been widened by 330 metres, and 18 new parking slots have been added opposite Jumeirah College.
A new U-turn exit on Al Wasl Street, along with a traffic signal and pedestrian crossing, has also been installed to enhance safety for both motorists and pedestrians.
These upgrades reflect RTA’s commitment to continuously enhancing Dubai’s road infrastructure, ensuring the city remains a leading destination for living and working.
