RTA Completes Traffic Enhancements in Oud Metha to Improve Flow and Safety

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed a series of traffic upgrades in Oud Metha, part of its 2024 Quick Traffic Solutions Plan.

These enhancements are aimed at improving Dubai’s road infrastructure, meeting the needs of the city’s rapid growth and urban expansion while promoting safer, more efficient travel.

The project included significant modifications to entry and exit points along Umm Hurair Street, adding 317 meters of acceleration and deceleration lanes to better accommodate inbound and outbound traffic. Additionally, the service road exit on Umm Hurair Street was widened from two to three lanes over a 100-meter stretch, increasing road capacity by 50% and reducing journey times by 40%.

Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, highlighted the benefits, noting that these swift improvements are set to support the diverse mix of residential, commercial, and recreational facilities in Oud Metha.

“These measures will contribute to reducing accidents and ensure the highest safety standards,”

Al Shehhi stated.

Further enhancements included expanding Street No. 2 towards the Umm Hurair Roundabout to ease congestion and increasing the number of turning lanes from two to three. The addition of 27 new parking spaces across the area will also accommodate visitors to local businesses, ensuring better public satisfaction with the infrastructure. This comprehensive upgrade supports Dubai’s goal of becoming one of the world’s most livable cities.
