Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed eight traffic improvement projects in educational zones across the emirate in 2024, benefiting 37 schools.

This initiative, part of RTA’s broader strategy to enhance road network efficiency, aims to ensure the safety of road users, including students, teaching staff, and parents, while aligning with Dubai’s ongoing urban development.

Key improvements were made at prominent schools, including Kings’ School Dubai, The International School of Choueifat, and Dubai College, as well as schools in Al Safa, Al Warqa, Al Qusais, Al Mizhar, Nad Al Sheba, and Al Tawar. These upgrades involved widening streets, adding parking spaces, improving school entrances and exits, and creating safe pick-up and drop-off areas.

Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA, emphasized the importance of these projects, stating,

“These improvements reflect RTA’s commitment to enhancing Dubai’s infrastructure and ensuring the safety of all road users. The projects support the emirate’s sustainable growth and contribute to making Dubai the best city to live in.”

The improvements have led to a 15-20% reduction in school arrival times, significantly improving traffic flow and road capacity. RTA plans to expand these efforts in early 2025 to cover more schools in areas like Al Garhoud and Al Barsha, with a focus on reducing congestion and improving travel times for schoolgoers.

The projects were conducted in collaboration with the Dubai Police, real estate developers, and school authorities to ensure long-term effectiveness and safety.
