Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed key internal road projects in Al Khawaneej 2 and Jebel Ali Industrial Area 1 and is advancing works in six additional residential communities to enhance traffic flow and improve connectivity.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Director General, said the projects align with Dubai’s vision to develop infrastructure in line with urban growth, improve quality of life, and promote residents’ wellbeing.

The completed works in Al Khawaneej 2 included six kilometres of roads, 765 parking spaces, 178 lighting poles, and a dedicated cycling track, while Jebel Ali Industrial Area 1 saw 27 kilometres of upgraded roads, seven new roundabouts, a signalised junction, and 42 kilometres of road lighting to accommodate heavy vehicles.

Ongoing projects cover Nad Al Sheba 1, 3, and 4; Al Awir 1; Wadi Al Amardi; and Al Warqa’a, spanning 103 kilometres in total. In Al Awir 1, new roads and lanes connecting to Emirates Road will double capacity from 1,500 to 3,000 vehicles per hour, with completion expected in the second quarter of 2026.

In Nad Al Sheba, works include new roads, cycling tracks, pedestrian walkways, and landscaping. Nad Al Sheba 1 is expected to finish by year-end, while Nad Al Sheba 3 and 4 are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

Al Warqa’a’s upgrades will serve over 350,000 residents, improving access via Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and reducing travel time from 20 minutes to just 3.5 minutes. Wadi Al Amardi’s 15-kilometre road project will serve 30,000 residents, increasing entry and exit capacity and shortening travel distances from five kilometres to one.

RTA’s ongoing projects reflect a sustained effort to expand Dubai’s road network, enhance safety, and support the city’s growing population and traffic demands.
