Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has announced revised metro timings for the last week of the FIFA World Cup.
The change in timings began on Friday, December 9, and will continue until the finals on Sunday, December 18.
After the last game, the last Metro will depart 45 minutes later, with 1.5 hours of additional service.
RTA stated that the revision is to ensure
“an easy trip to one’s destination during the football season”.
Below is a complete list of extended timings:
Tuesday, December 13 – 5am to 2.30am (the next day)
Wednesday, December – 14 5am to 2.30am (the next day)
Saturday, December 17- 5am to 1am (the next day)
Sunday, December 18 – 8am to 1am (the next day)
Nearly 1,400 daily Dubai Metro trips, 700 additional taxis, 60 dedicated public buses, and three marine transit means were announced to help transport up to 1,200 passengers per hour during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
RTA also said that they would take real-time traffic conditions into account to allocate resources accordingly.
It’s been a wonderful tournament so far. Morocco stunned Portugal 1-0 in a thrilling clash to secure a spot in the tournament’s semi-finals. The North African country continued its historic run at the FIFA World Cup, and became the first Arab and African nation to advance into the tournament’s penultimate phase.
