Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a series of initiatives to enhance taxi services across the city, focusing on passenger comfort, safety, and service quality.
These measures aim to elevate the overall taxi experience for residents, tourists, and visitors, aligning with Dubai’s vision of providing a sustainable and clean transportation system.
Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, outlined the key initiatives. These include intensive awareness and training programs for drivers and instructors, promoting vehicle cleanliness, and expanding the provision of uniforms for drivers. To further improve passenger satisfaction, the RTA has launched a pilot project installing high-quality air fresheners in over 500 airport taxis. The initiative also includes deploying AI-based in-car cameras to monitor smoking and stepping up inspections to maintain vehicle standards.
To assess the effectiveness of these enhancements, the Public Transport Agency has introduced new metrics. A monthly operational index will monitor vehicle and driver cleanliness, while customer satisfaction surveys and mystery shopper evaluations will provide feedback on the impact of these efforts. These assessments will be conducted semi-annually starting in 2025 to ensure continuous improvement.
Shakri emphasized that these initiatives are part of the RTA’s broader strategy to deliver innovative, safe, and high-quality transportation services. By focusing on sustainability and cleanliness, the RTA aims to meet the expectations of Dubai’s diverse population and visitors, while contributing to the emirate’s goals of fostering a clean and sustainable environment.
