Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out the ‘Tadreeb’ digital platform to modernise driver training and licensing, marking a major step in its push for seamless and sustainable mobility.
The platform unifies all driving institutes across the emirate, digitising training, assessments, and trainee data. By harnessing artificial intelligence, it tailors instruction to individual needs, enhances safety standards, and streamlines qualification processes.
According to Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, the system is designed to ensure high-quality training, license professional drivers, and improve governance in line with global best practices.
‘Tadreeb’ currently serves around 250,000 trainees annually, supported by more than 3,400 instructors and 3,000 vehicles. Each training route is geo-tracked and linked to the central system, delivering over six million hours of monitored instruction per year.
Key benefits include reduced waiting times for permits, lower operating costs, stronger oversight through smart dashboards, and improved compliance from instructors. The platform has also contributed to lowering road fatalities among new drivers.
Recognised internationally, ‘Tadreeb’ is the first unified driver training system accredited by the International Commission for Driver Testing and has earned the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award.
RTA plans to expand its capabilities further by using AI to personalise training, enhance user experiences, and strengthen automated oversight to meet future mobility needs.
