RTA Launches Major Infrastructure Projects to Enhance Access in Key Dubai Communities

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a transformative project to improve entry and exit points across four key neighborhoods, aligning with the city’s vision to enhance urban infrastructure and residents’ quality of life.

The neighborhoods—Nadd Hessa, Al Awir 1, Al Barsha South, and Wadi Al Safa 3—will see upgraded access along major roads such as Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Emirates Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and Hessa Street. These enhancements aim to boost traffic capacity by 50% to 80% and benefit over 400,000 residents.

Mattar Al Tayer, RTA’s Director-General, emphasized the project's impact, stating,

“These developments are part of RTA’s commitment to improve road infrastructure, lighting, and stormwater systems to meet increasing traffic demands.”

Key highlights include:

  • Nadd Hessa: A new two-lane road will reduce travel time by 80%, with capacity for 6,000 vehicles per hour.
  • Al Awir 1: A 7.5 km road will double traffic capacity, serving 50,000 residents.
  • Al Barsha South: Hessa Street enhancements will add lanes and streamline traffic flow, benefiting 75,000 residents.
  • Wadi Al Safa 3: Internal roads and direct access from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will cut travel time from 10 minutes to 2 minutes.

The RTA is also enhancing Al Warqa’s road network and introducing a 16 km cycling track to support sustainable mobility.

These projects reflect Dubai’s commitment to infrastructure excellence, ensuring smoother commutes and elevated living standards for its residents.
