Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled its Sustainability Framework 2030, a comprehensive plan that reinforces Dubai's global leadership in sustainable development.
Built on three pillars—environmental, economic, and social sustainability—the framework aligns with Dubai's vision for 2030, “We the UAE 2031,” and the Dubai Urban Plan 2040.
Muna Abdul Rahman Al Osaimi, CEO of RTA’s Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector, highlighted the Authority’s commitment to advancing Dubai’s sustainability goals. She stated,
“RTA’s strategic plans are designed to elevate Dubai’s global standing while ensuring sustainability across all sectors.”
RTA has already achieved significant milestones in sustainability, including becoming the first government entity in the MENA region to earn the British Standard BS 8001:2017 certification for Circular Economy and leading the development of the region’s first long-term Zero Emissions Public Transport Strategy for 2050.
The Sustainability Framework 2030 focuses on creating a socially inclusive, environmentally resilient, and economically diverse public transport system. Under the social pillar, priorities include enhancing road safety, reducing traffic fatalities, and achieving zero workplace injuries by 2028. The framework also emphasizes empowering women, fostering inclusivity, and achieving global leadership in customer experience.
Environmentally, the plan aims to develop climate-resilient infrastructure and transition to a fully zero-emission public transport network by 2050. Economically, the focus is on asset management excellence, circular economy initiatives, and diversifying investments.
By aligning its strategic goals with Dubai’s long-term vision, RTA continues to set global benchmarks for sustainable urban transport systems, ensuring a greener, more inclusive future for all.
