Roads and Transport Authority has launched a Transport Data Analysis Laboratory at its Enterprise Command and Control Centre, marking a significant step in advancing data-driven transport planning and real-time decision-making across the emirate.
The new laboratory monitors, collects, and analyses transport data to support strategic and operational decisions, enhance readiness for major events and emergencies, and reinforce Dubai’s position as a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility.
Located within the Enterprise Command and Control Centre, the laboratory strengthens the centre’s role as an integrated platform linking RTA’s control centres. It unifies operational monitoring through a single system that deploys artificial intelligence technologies and predictive models to analyse scenarios, deliver proactive solutions, and improve response times during high-impact events.
Mohammed Al Ali, Director of the Enterprise Command and Control Centre, said the initiative represents a qualitative shift in operational analytics. He noted that integrating monitoring systems with artificial intelligence enables the conversion of large volumes of data into predictive indicators that support faster and more accurate decision-making, contributing to smoother traffic flow, higher efficiency, and improved sustainability.
The laboratory draws real-time data from more than 35 sources covering buses, the metro, tram, marine transport, taxis, limousines, private vehicles, and soft mobility options. It also automates over 150 operational performance indicators to strengthen planning, coordination, and policy evaluation.
Recently, the laboratory analysed transport movement during GITEX 2025, using advanced platforms to identify congestion points and improve traffic flow. It has also supported the identification of high-risk accident locations, enabling corrective measures to enhance road safety across Dubai.
