Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has rolled out an upgraded version of its nol Pay app, introducing a modern design and enhanced functionalities aimed at improving convenience and efficiency for public transport users across the emirate.

The new app upgrade is part of the first phase of RTA’s initiative to implement Account Based Ticketing technologies, aligning with Dubai’s 'Services 360' policy to streamline digital services, reduce transaction times, and support the Zero Bureaucracy Programme.

Key features in the updated app include managing family members’ nol cards, scheduling automatic top-ups, receiving proactive reminders for low balances or expiring passes, instant top-ups and balance checks, and the ability to purchase travel passes instantly. The app also offers additional services such as mobile phone balance top-ups.

The upgraded nol Pay app allows Samsung and Huawei users to digitise nol cards, enabling tap-to-pay across all public transport modes and retail outlets without opening the app. This functionality has driven significant adoption, with over 33,000 digital cards sold by the end of 2024—a 460% increase from the previous year—and 1.5 million downloads, marking a 150% year-on-year rise.

RTA said the upgrade reflects its commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction and consolidating nol Pay’s role as a vital digital payment solution in Dubai’s public transport network, providing a smoother, more seamless user experience for residents and visitors alike.
