Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a fare reduction for its Bus-On-Demand service in the Business Bay area.

Starting Friday, December 20, the fare has been decreased from AED 5 to AED 2. This move aligns with RTA’s efforts to enhance public transport accessibility, promote integration across transport modes, and encourage greater use of its efficient bus services.

Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, highlighted the high demand for this service in Business Bay, stating that the reduced fare aims to make it more affordable for a wider audience. He also revealed plans to expand the service to cover 10 areas with 41 buses by mid-2025.

The Bus-On-Demand service is designed to improve traffic flow and facilitate convenient travel within and between adjacent areas. Operated through the Dubai Bus On-Demand app, the service uses small public buses to connect neighbourhoods with nearby public transport stations. Passengers can plan routes, book rides, and pay fares directly through the app, providing an efficient solution for first- and last-mile connectivity.

This fare reduction is expected to increase adoption of the service, particularly in Business Bay, and enhance integration within Dubai’s public transport network. It underscores RTA’s commitment to providing accessible, timely, and safe transport options for residents and visitors alike.
