Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the opening of a new three-lane bridge connecting Sheikh Rashid Road to Infinity Bridge, marking a key milestone in the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project.

This bridge is part of Phase 4 of the project, which spans 4.8 kilometers of Sheikh Rashid Road, from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to the Falcon Interchange on Al Mina Street.

The project, which includes the construction of three new bridges totaling 3.1 kilometers, aims to improve traffic flow, enhancing capacity to accommodate 19,400 vehicles per hour. Currently, 71% of the project has been completed, with another bridge set to open in January 2024.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of the RTA, emphasized the importance of the project, which is aligned with Dubai’s growth and urban development plans. The bridges are designed to ease congestion and reduce travel time along the corridor. By 2030, the improvements are expected to reduce travel times from 104 minutes to just 16 minutes.

The entire Al Shindagha Corridor spans 13 kilometers, improving 15 key intersections across major routes, including Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mina Street. It will benefit up to one million residents and support key developments like Dubai Islands and Deira Waterfront. The RTA also plans to enhance safety and ensure smoother traffic flow, projecting savings of AED 45 billion over the next two decades.

As part of ongoing work, the RTA has completed several bridges and tunnels, including the notable Infinity Bridge, a six-lane structure symbolizing Dubai’s limitless aspirations.
