Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has inaugurated a new 1,210-metre bridge featuring three lanes and a capacity of 4,800 vehicles per hour to improve traffic flow from Infinity Bridge through Al Mina Street to Sheikh Rashid Road.
The opening is part of Phase 4 of the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, which spans 4.8 km and includes:
- 5 bridges totaling 3.1 km, with a combined capacity of 19,400 vehicles per hour
- Road upgrades from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to Falcon Intersection
- Intersection enhancements on Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street, and Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Street
- Two new pedestrian bridges on Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mina Street
90% of Phase 4 is complete, with two remaining bridges to open in Q2 2025:
- A 780m bridge (3 lanes, 4,800 vehicles/hr) connecting Infinity Bridge to Al Wasl Street
- A 985m bridge (2 lanes, 3,200 vehicles/hr) connecting Jumeirah Street to Falcon Intersection
Previous milestones include:
- A 1,335m bridge opened in December 2024 to ease flow from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to Infinity Bridge
- A 605m bridge improving access from Al Mina Street to Sheikh Rashid Road
Al Shindagha Corridor spans 13 km, covering 15 intersections and connecting Deira and Bur Dubai.
Upon full completion, the project is expected to:
- Benefit 1 million residents
- Reduce travel time from 104 mins to 16 mins by 2030
- Generate AED 45 billion in economic value over 20 years
H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Director General, affirmed the project reflects the leadership’s vision to support urban growth and mobility in Dubai.
