Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has inaugurated two new bridges as part of the Oud Maitha and Al Asayel Streets Development Project, a key component of the wider Sheikh Rashid Corridor Development.

The new infrastructure is designed to ease congestion and strengthen connectivity between Al Asayel Street, Al Khail Road, and Al Wasl Club Street.

The first bridge carries traffic from Al Asayel Street towards Al Wasl Club Street, while the second bridge directs vehicles from Al Asayel Street to Al Khail Road in the direction of Business Bay Crossing. Both structures aim to improve traffic flow in one of the city’s busiest corridors.

According to the RTA, 72 percent of the overall project has been completed, while tunnel construction has reached 70 percent. The upcoming tunnel will serve traffic moving from Dubai Al Ain Road towards the Oud Maitha service road. Additional road expansions and bridge works are currently underway and are expected to open in the third quarter of the year.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at the RTA, said the project supports Dubai’s growing population and urban expansion. The development includes upgrades to four major intersections, along with bridges and tunnels extending 4.3 kilometres and road works spanning 14 kilometres.

The project serves key communities including Za’abeel, Al Jaddaf, Oud Maitha, and Umm Hurair, as well as major destinations such as Latifa Hospital and Al Wasl Club. The population in these areas is projected to exceed 420,000 by 2030.

Once complete, the upgrade will increase the traffic capacity of Oud Maitha Street from 10,400 vehicles per hour to 15,600 vehicles per hour and reduce average travel time from 20 minutes to about five minutes.
