Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has opened two new bridges at the Trade Centre Roundabout, delivering an early boost to traffic flow at one of the city’s busiest intersections and cutting journey times from minutes to seconds.

The bridges, opened on Sunday ahead of their mid-January schedule, serve traffic moving from 2nd December Street towards Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Majlis Street, which links to Al Mustaqbal Street. Each bridge carries two lanes in both directions, with a combined length of 2,000 metres and a total capacity of about 6,000 vehicles per hour.

According to the RTA, the new links reduce travel time from 2nd December Street to Al Majlis Street, Al Mustaqbal Street, and Zabeel Palace Street from around 10 minutes to just two minutes, while easing congestion at the Trade Centre Roundabout.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the RTA, said the roundabout is a critical junction connecting Sheikh Zayed Road with five major corridors, making the project central to improving mobility across key parts of Dubai.

The Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project carries a total cost exceeding AED 696 million and includes five bridges spanning 5,000 metres, along with the conversion of the existing roundabout into an at-grade intersection. Overall completion has reached nearly 50 percent, with phased openings planned.

A third bridge linking Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street is scheduled to open in March, while two additional bridges serving traffic towards 2nd December Street are set for October 2026.

Once completed, the project is expected to reduce average delays at the intersection from 12 minutes to 90 seconds and benefit more than half a million residents and visitors, particularly those accessing Dubai World Trade Centre, DIFC, and surrounding communities.
