Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a strategic partnership with Swiftly, an American transit data service provider, to significantly enhance the accuracy of its Real-Time Passenger Information (RTPI) system.
This collaboration aims to improve passenger information and satisfaction while encouraging greater public transport usage through instant updates on bus arrivals and locations. These updates will be accessible via RTA's S’hail app and various third-party Journey Planner platforms.
Leveraging advanced big data technologies, the platform will refine bus arrival predictions by analyzing real-time traffic conditions, delays, and service disruptions.
Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, stated,
“Our partnership with Swiftly aims to improve customer awareness of real-time bus locations and any potential delays. By utilizing big data-based solutions, this collaboration will offer more accurate bus arrival predictions, ensuring that passengers know exactly when to reach the bus stop.”
The results of this partnership are already promising, with a reported 24% improvement in the accuracy of Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA).
Jonathan Simkin, Co-founder and CEO of Swiftly, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing its potential to enhance the rider experience.
“We are thrilled to partner with RTA Dubai to help improve the rider experience and empower staff with modern tools,”
he said.
This initiative marks a significant step toward optimizing public transport services in Dubai, promising to create a seamless experience for millions of riders. As RTA and Swiftly look to expand their partnership further, the future of public transport in the region looks increasingly promising.
