Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has sent a group of directors and their deputies to China as part of its “Advanced Leadership” programme, aimed at developing the next generation of national leaders.

The initiative combines practical experiences with exposure to global innovation models to prepare participants for future leadership roles.

The multi-day visit included field trips to leading technology and transport companies such as Huawei, Alibaba, SenseTime, and EHang. Participants explored advancements in smart mobility, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and smart city management, gaining firsthand insight into cutting-edge practices shaping the future of urban transport.

Athari Mohamed, Executive Director of Human Resources and Development at RTA, said the programme blends theoretical learning with practical field experiences, enabling participants to study global best practices in innovation and modern technologies. She highlighted that the China visit fostered knowledge exchange and experience sharing, positively impacting RTA’s systems, operations, and corporate competitiveness.

The initiative reflects RTA’s commitment to investing in national talent in line with Dubai’s broader vision for leadership and sustainability. By equipping Emirati professionals with strategic thinking and future foresight skills, the programme aims to build leaders capable of driving corporate transformation and sustaining global competitiveness.

Athari emphasized that investing in human capital remains a cornerstone of RTA’s strategy.
