Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced the Professional Engineering Career Path and Fast Track initiatives, marking a first in the UAE. These programs aim to create specialized career paths in engineering to meet market demands and ensure job stability for engineers.

The Professional Engineering Career Path, launching in Q4 2024, offers a clear career ladder for engineers, promoting them from "Engineer" in Grade 11 to "Consultant Engineer" in Grade 16. This initiative is designed to foster a competitive spirit among Emirati engineers, encouraging excellence and productivity.

The Fast Track initiative, set to start in Q1 2025, targets elite Emirati engineering graduates with exceptional academic qualifications. Over two years, participants receive comprehensive technical and administrative training, progressing from "Engineer" in Grade 11 to "Senior Engineer" in Grade 13. This program includes intensive training, mentoring, job rotation, and technical project assignments.

These initiatives align with UAE and Dubai’s strategies for Emiratisation, focusing on training and qualifying national talents to enhance job stability and professional standards. RTA's efforts support the leadership’s vision of nurturing an environment for young Emiratis to innovate and excel.

Eligibility for the Professional Engineering Career Path includes specific academic qualifications, experience, certifications, and passing designated tests. For new graduates, criteria include UAE nationality, a university degree in engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.0, recent graduation, age between 21 and 26, completion of National and Reserve Service, proficiency in Arabic and English, and successful completion of selection tests and interviews.

RTA employs over 230 Emirati engineers and specialists across various disciplines, including civil, electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural, and computer engineering, demonstrating its commitment to fostering Emirati engineering talent.
