Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has clinched the prestigious Green World Award - Global Gold Winner category from The Green Organisation, UK.

This accolade celebrates RTA's exceptional environmental stewardship through its Route 2020 project, recognized for its significant carbon reduction and sustainable development practices.

The Route 2020 project, spanning 15 km from Jabal Ali Station to the Expo 2020 site, has notably slashed 35,319 tonnes of carbon emissions. It features seven stations, including five elevated and two underground, serving over 270,000 residents across key Dubai areas. The project integrates advanced technologies like the HESOP system for energy regeneration and Automatic Train Control (ATC) coasting to enhance energy efficiency.

RTA's commitment to sustainability is underscored by its LEED Gold certification for Route 2020 stations by the US Green Building Council, highlighting its exemplary green architecture and design. The project's environmental initiatives extend to energy and water conservation measures, reinforcing its role as a model for eco-friendly infrastructure.

The Green World Award underscores RTA's global leadership in environmental excellence and sustainability, positioning Dubai as a frontrunner in green infrastructure development. This recognition further enhances RTA's reputation as a pioneer in advancing environmental goals on a global scale.
