The Henley Passport Index 2025 has been unveiled, ranking 199 passports based on their visa-free access to global destinations. Using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the index highlights shifts in global mobility trends.

Singapore Leads the Pack

Singapore claims the top spot this year, offering visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations worldwide. This achievement solidifies Singapore's reputation as a global mobility powerhouse, enabling its citizens to travel almost anywhere with ease.

Asia and Europe Dominate the Top Ranks

Japan secures second place with visa-free access to 193 destinations, regaining entry to China post-COVID restrictions. Not far behind, several EU countries—France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland—and South Korea tie for third place with access to 192 destinations.

Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Sweden, and Norway rank fourth with 191 destinations. Meanwhile, Belgium, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland, and the UK share the fifth spot with 190 destinations.

Shifts Among Western Nations

The United States continues its decline, falling to ninth place with visa-free access to 186 destinations. The US has dropped significantly over the past decade, reflecting increasing geopolitical uncertainties. Similarly, Canada has dropped from fourth to seventh place, while the UK, once a leader in 2015, now ranks fifth.

Biggest Fallers

Venezuela leads the list of significant declines, followed by the US and Vanuatu. The British passport, a former leader, now lags behind its EU counterparts.

The Henley Passport Index is more than just a ranking—it's a reflection of geopolitical stability, diplomatic relations, and global economic shifts. With Singapore leading the way, the index underscores the growing importance of Asia in global mobility.
