Travelers from 93 countries can now stay for up to 60 days, an increase from the current 57 nations, with more eligible for visas on arrival, aiming to boost tourism.
Thailand's government announced on Tuesday the approval of extended visa stay periods for tourists, postgraduate students, remote workers, and relaxed conditions for retirees to boost its vital tourism sector amidst economic challenges.
Starting in June, travelers from 93 countries can stay for 60 days, up from 57 nations, with more eligible for visas on arrival. Foreign students will get an additional year to stay post-graduation, and insurance requirements for retirees will be eased.
The new measures aim to attract more visitors by extending stay limits and enhancing "digital nomad" visas to five years. Thailand aims for a record 40 million foreign arrivals this year, up from 14.3 million tourists from January to May 26. Pre-pandemic, Thailand saw 39.9 million arrivals in 2019.
