Toyota holds its value better than any other brand in the UAE used-car market, retaining 65 percent of its worth over three years, according to new analysis from dubizzle Cars.
Lexus and RAM followed at 61 percent, while Nissan and Honda each recorded 60 percent. Mazda, GMC, Jeep and Hyundai completed the leading group at 59 percent.
The study looked at vehicles from the 2021 to 2023 model years. It compared like-for-like cohorts across make, model, trim, model year and GCC versus non-GCC specification, then aggregated the results at make level using listing-weighted averages and medians.
Toyota also showed steady performance from one year to the next, retaining 87 percent of its value after Year 1, 75 percent after Year 2 and 65 percent after Year 3.
For buyers, the findings add another factor to weigh alongside purchase price, financing, fuel economy, maintenance and ownership costs. A car that keeps more of its original value can give its owner greater flexibility when selling privately, trading in or moving into a new vehicle.
Sherif Magdy, Director of Sales at dubizzle Cars, said the choice of a car shapes more than the present.
"When consumers choose a car, they are not only choosing a vehicle for today, they are also making a decision that can shape their ownership journey over the years that follow,"
he said.
He added that looking at how comparable vehicles have performed across successive model years gives buyers a useful perspective on longer-term value.
With the UAE's used-car market offering a wide range of brands, models and specifications, value retention gives shoppers a way to look beyond the price tag and consider how much of a car's value it can carry forward.
