The United Arab Emirates is cementing its position as a leader in green autonomous logistics by fostering regulatory frameworks that build confidence and accelerate innovation, experts said at the 4th Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport 2025.
On the second day of the event, industry leaders emphasised that confidence and expertise are essential for advancing artificial intelligence and robotics in logistics. They noted that green autonomous transport can deliver significant benefits, including reduced costs, improved efficiency, fewer human-error accidents, and shorter travel times.
Dr Xuchen Zhang, Co-Founder of Zelos, and Paul Newman, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Oxa, shared their insights during a panel discussion titled “The Future of Green Autonomous Logistics,” moderated by Andy Gill, Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Simulytic.
Dr Zhang underscored the need for global collaboration to accelerate the rollout of autonomous vehicles, highlighting data showing such systems can be up to 50 times safer than human drivers. He added that autonomous solutions also help reduce manufacturing costs, enhancing their commercial viability.
Newman stressed that artificial intelligence should be seen as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for human workers. He called for the creation of strong operational frameworks that would allow companies to integrate autonomous solutions into their businesses more efficiently and effectively.
The panel concluded that with the UAE’s proactive approach to regulation and infrastructure, the country is well-positioned to drive the growth of green autonomous logistics and set global benchmarks in sustainable transport innovation.
