In a significant move to strengthen bilateral relations, the governments of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bermuda have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on exchanging experiences in government modernization and development.
The agreement was formalized during the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, highlighting the commitment of both nations to drive economic, environmental, and social growth.
The MoU will facilitate collaboration between the UAE Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and Bermuda’s Ministry of Economy and Labour, establishing a framework for sharing best practices in enhancing government services. This includes human capacity building to equip public sector employees with essential skills in technology and leadership.
Abdullah Nasser Lootah, UAE’s Assistant Minister for Cabinet Affairs, emphasized the UAE's innovative public sector model, which has led to initiatives such as the One Million Arab Coders program. He expressed the UAE's commitment to sharing its experiences with agile nations like Bermuda to foster resilience and accelerate progress toward Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Jason Hayward, Bermuda's Minister of Economy and Labour, noted that this partnership underscores the deepening friendship between the two countries. The UN HLPF, which runs until July 17, is a platform for the UAE delegation to engage in discussions aimed at advancing the global SDG agenda, with a focus on eradicating poverty, ensuring energy access, and promoting climate action.
