Brazil, since assuming the G20 presidency on December 1, 2023, has prioritized collaborative solutions to address global challenges.
Under the theme "Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet," Brazil’s presidency emphasizes sustainable practices, inclusive dialogue, and innovative strategies for shared global achievements.
The UAE’s active participation as a guest at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro on November 18-19 reflects its shared vision with Brazil. The two nations enjoy a strategic partnership established in 2019, bolstered by growing economic ties. Bilateral trade reached AED13.28 billion in the first eight months of 2024, making the UAE Brazil’s largest Middle Eastern economic partner.
Throughout the year, the UAE engaged in various G20 ministerial meetings addressing pressing issues like global governance, poverty, climate, and energy challenges. UAE’s alignment with Brazil’s presidency priorities underscores its commitment to fostering sustainable development and innovative solutions.
In addition, Brazil endorsed the UAE-led Global Climate Finance Framework announced at COP28, further solidifying their collaboration on climate action. Brazil’s hosting of COP30 in 2025 promises to continue this coordinated approach between COP and G20 agendas.
Economic ties between the UAE and G20 countries are also flourishing. Non-oil trade hit $196.1 billion in the first half of 2024, with a 15.3% annual growth in 2023, underscoring the UAE’s pivotal role in global trade.
As Brazil leads the G20 and the UAE strengthens its partnerships, both nations exemplify the importance of unified efforts in addressing global challenges and fostering prosperity.
