The United Arab Emirates (UAE), represented by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), held a round of Air Services Consultations with the Civil Aviation Authority of the People's Republic of China (CAAC) on 16th and 17th July in Beijing.
The primary aim of these discussions was to enhance bilateral air transport relations and increase air connectivity between the two nations. The UAE delegation was led by Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA.
The consultations culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at boosting air connectivity between airports in the UAE and China. This agreement marks a significant step forward in strengthening aviation ties between the two countries.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi emphasized the GCAA's commitment to enhancing air transport services and improving international presence, particularly to benefit the UAE's national carriers. He expressed commendation for the agreements reached, foreseeing a substantial positive impact on the economic sectors of mutual interest.
The discussions also focused on enhancing cooperation and collaboration in the civil aviation sector, exploring new initiatives that would further strengthen bilateral relations. The exchange of expertise between the two countries in areas such as aviation security, safety, air transport, and investments in the aviation sector was highlighted as a key component of the talks.
In addition to the MoU, the first Air Connectivity Forum between the UAE and China, held on 15th July, was instrumental in achieving positive outcomes in the negotiations. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi underscored the importance of such forums in supporting and strengthening economic and trade relations between the two countries. He stressed the necessity of holding these forums on a consistent basis to maintain and build upon the progress made.
The new agreements are expected to foster greater collaboration and open up new avenues for growth in the aviation industry. This partnership not only aims to enhance air connectivity but also to create a robust framework for future cooperation and mutual benefit in the civil aviation sector.
With the signing of the MoU and the commitment to ongoing dialogue and cooperation, the UAE and China are poised to achieve significant advancements in their aviation relations, contributing to broader economic and trade growth between the two nations.
