UAE and Ireland Explore Deeper Economic and Tourism Cooperation at Investopia Dialogues

The UAE and the Republic of Ireland took steps to strengthen economic and tourism ties as senior officials from both countries met in Dublin on the sidelines of the Investopia Global Dialogues, signaling a shared intent to expand collaboration across key growth sectors.

Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of Investopia, held bilateral meetings with Darragh O’Brien, Ireland’s Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment and Minister for Transport, as well as Paul Keeley, Director of Regional Development at Fáilte Ireland. The discussions focused on advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including investment, sustainability, transport, and tourism development.

The meetings were attended by Mohammed Hmoud Hamad Rahma Alshamsi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland, and Mohammad Alhawi, Under-Secretary at the UAE Ministry of Investment, alongside senior officials, business leaders, and investors from both countries.

Al Marri underscored the UAE’s open economic approach, emphasizing the importance of strengthening partnerships with international markets. He noted that the discussions contributed to expanding cooperation between government entities and private sector stakeholders, supporting joint investments, enhanced air connectivity, and increased tourism exchange.

In talks with Minister O’Brien, both sides explored opportunities for collaboration in sustainable energy, infrastructure, and transport. The meeting also addressed knowledge exchange in the circular economy and policies supporting the transition to a green economy, aligned with the sustainability goals of both nations.

During a separate meeting with Fáilte Ireland’s Paul Keeley, the focus shifted to tourism cooperation. Discussions covered destination development, regional tourism growth, tourism route planning, brand building for sustainable local destinations, and joint promotion efforts aimed at increasing visitor flows between the UAE and Ireland.
