Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, has confirmed that the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and Japan is expected to be finalized by the end of 2025.

Dr. Al Zeyoudi emphasized that the ongoing negotiations underscore the strong commitment of both nations to bolster their economic ties. The CEPA is seen as a critical step in fostering deeper developmental partnerships, thereby fueling economic prosperity and opening new opportunities for business communities in both countries.

The UAE has long been a key trade partner for Japan in the Arab World, handling approximately 37% of Japan’s total exports to the region. Conversely, Japan ranks among the UAE’s top ten trading partners, reflecting the mutually beneficial nature of their bilateral trade relations.

The discussions, which began in September 2024, aim to elevate the UAE-Japan partnership to new heights, unlocking fresh avenues for economic growth, investment, and trade. Both nations are focused on strengthening their collaboration, envisioning a future marked by enhanced prosperity and shared opportunities for development.
