UAE and Slovenia Forge Stronger Economic Ties with New Business Council
In a significant step towards enhancing economic collaboration, the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UAE Chambers) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to establish a joint UAE-Slovenian Business Council. The signing ceremony occurred during a meeting organized by UAE Chambers, in conjunction with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The event featured Humaid bin Salem, Secretary-General of UAE Chambers, and a high-level delegation from Slovenia, led by Slobodan Šešum, Director General of Economic and Public Diplomacy at the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions centered on fostering cooperation between the business sectors of both nations.
Key agenda items included strategies for developing commercial and investment partnerships, enhancing cooperation in various sectors, and facilitating direct communication between the private sectors of the UAE and Slovenia. The council aims to bolster bilateral trade, double imports and exports in vital sectors, and diversify investments in areas such as health, logistics, ICT, e-commerce, tourism, real estate, financial services, and agricultural technology.
Humaid bin Salem expressed optimism about the growing economic ties between the UAE and Slovenia, highlighting Slovenia’s role as a gateway for Emirati investors seeking opportunities in East and Central Europe. He noted that the establishment of the joint Business Council would strengthen connections between the two countries' business communities and promote awareness of the UAE’s favorable investment climate.
"The UAE can serve as a vital launchpad for Slovenian companies looking to penetrate markets across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Africa,"
Salem affirmed. This initiative marks a promising development in the economic landscape of both nations.
