Motorists in the UAE and Texas can soon replace their driving licenses in each other's regions without undergoing knowledge or road tests, thanks to a new agreement signed between the UAE Ministry of Interior and the Department of Public Safety in Texas.
The initiative, announced on X, is designed to streamline procedures and ensure greater ease of movement for both residents and visitors in the UAE and the US state. Under the new arrangement, UAE driving license holders can easily exchange their licenses for a Texas one, and vice versa, without the need for additional driving tests or written exams.
This move comes as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering greater mobility and convenience for residents and tourists. With the recognition of driving licenses from both entities, the process of obtaining a new license will be simplified, saving time and resources for those relocating or visiting.
In a related announcement, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai confirmed that residents holding US driving licenses, along with those from several other countries, can exchange their foreign licenses for a UAE one without having to take tests. The exchange process will require applicants to present a valid Emirates ID, their original driving license, and a few other documents.
This collaborative effort marks a significant step in enhancing global mobility and is expected to benefit both tourists and expatriates, making travel and relocation more seamless for UAE residents and Texas visitors.
