The General Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates has signed two key agreements with Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency aimed at strengthening aviation safety and enhancing international cooperation.
The accords were concluded during the 42nd Session of the International Civil Aviation Organisation General Assembly in Montreal.
The first agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding, was signed by Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, and Tiago Chagas Faierstein, President of ANAC. It sets a strategic framework for collaboration through information exchange, training, and personnel visits, with the goal of aligning both countries with global best practices in aviation safety.
A second agreement, known as the Working Agreement, was signed by Aqeel Ahmed Al Zarouni, Assistant Director-General of Aviation Safety Affairs at the GCAA, and Roberto José Silveira Honorato, Head of Airworthiness at ANAC. It details practical mechanisms for cooperation, including coordination in approvals, mutual recognition of compliance findings, and enhanced operational efficiency.
Officials from both sides emphasized that the agreements demonstrate a shared commitment to advancing bilateral ties in aviation, improving safety standards, and reinforcing their positions within the global aviation sector.
The UAE and Brazil are expected to build on these accords through continued technical cooperation and knowledge-sharing, reflecting the growing importance of international partnerships in aviation oversight and safety management.
