The UAE has taken a new step to strengthen global aviation safety as its General Civil Aviation Authority signed a cooperation agreement with Kazakhstan to expand joint efforts in investigating aircraft accidents and incidents.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the Dubai Airshow 2025 by Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA, and Talgat Lastaev, Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan. Senior officials from both sides attended, including Captain Aysha Mohammed Al Hamili, Assistant Director General for the Air Transport Accident Investigation Sector.
The agreement establishes a strategic partnership that supports deeper collaboration between the two countries’ investigation bodies. It outlines mutual assistance in the event of aviation incidents, along with shared access to facilities that support technical and investigative work.
Both sides will also exchange personnel for training and professional development to enhance expertise in accident investigation. The partnership allows observers from each country to take part in the other’s investigations, helping align methodologies and strengthen oversight practices.
The MoU further includes the organisation of technical visits and joint meetings, as well as the exchange of relevant information in accordance with national laws and international standards.
Officials said the partnership marks a commitment to improving global aviation safety by fostering closer ties, strengthening investigative capabilities, and promoting knowledge sharing between the UAE and Kazakhstan.
