The UAE banking sector posted steady growth in September 2025 as total assets, money supply, credit, and deposits all rose, reflecting continued economic momentum across the country, according to new data from the Central Bank of the UAE.

Gross banks’ assets increased 2.2 percent to AED5.199 trillion at the end of September, up from AED5.087 trillion in August. The Central Bank’s report showed gains across key money supply indicators, with M1 rising 0.4 percent due to higher currency in circulation and monetary deposits.

M2 grew 1.0 percent to AED2.589 trillion, supported by a AED22.4 billion increase in quasi-monetary deposits. M3 advanced 1.4 percent to AED3.123 trillion, driven by the expansion in M2 and an additional AED17.4 billion in government deposits.

The monetary base declined 2.5 percent to AED832.5 billion, mainly due to an 8.9 percent drop in reserve account balances. This outweighed small increases in currency issued and overnight deposits at the Central Bank.

Gross credit rose 2.5 percent to AED2.478 trillion, supported by AED43.9 billion growth in domestic lending and AED17.6 billion in foreign credit. Lending increased across all domestic segments including the government, government-related entities, the private sector, and non-banking financial institutions.

Banks’ deposits climbed 1.8 percent to AED3.186 trillion as resident deposits grew 0.7 percent and non-resident deposits surged 14.5 percent. Within resident deposits, private sector balances increased, while government and government-related entities posted slight declines.

The Central Bank’s monthly data reinforces a picture of broad financial sector expansion as the UAE continues to see active lending, rising deposits, and strong liquidity conditions.
