UAE Cabinet Approves Strategic AI Policy on Global Stage

The UAE Cabinet, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the country’s official international stance on artificial intelligence (AI).

This policy, jointly developed by the Office of the Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology and the Office of the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, represents a key step in the UAE’s broader foreign policy framework.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, highlighted the UAE's pivotal role in shaping global AI governance.

"The UAE has become a significant player in global AI policy discussions, actively contributing to frameworks that will shape the future of AI,"

Al Olama stated, emphasizing the policy’s aim to enhance the country's leadership in AI development while prioritizing societal well-being.

Omran Sharaf, Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology, stressed the importance of the policy in strengthening the UAE’s global standing.

"By aligning our foreign policy with international AI standards, we empower local stakeholders to address AI challenges on a global scale,"

Sharaf said.

The policy is built on six core principles: advancement, cooperation, community, ethics, sustainability, and security. It underscores the UAE’s commitment to fostering ethical AI development and driving economic innovation, while supporting the creation of international alliances to govern and secure AI systems globally. The UAE's leadership in AI governance reflects its dedication to promoting transparency, accountability, and responsible AI applications on the international stage.
