The UAE has called for embracing artificial intelligence (AI) with a balanced and thoughtful approach, emphasizing its role in advancing humanity, nations, and religion.

The message was delivered by Dr. Omar Habtour Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat, during the 11th Ministerial Meeting of Officials Responsible for Islamic Affairs and Endowments in GCC countries, held in Kuwait.

Dr. Al Darei highlighted the UAE’s pioneering experience in integrating technology within religious and social frameworks, including the use of AI in sermons and mosque operations. He also pointed to the “Unified Sermon” initiative, launched three decades ago by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, as a foundation for the country’s innovative and unified religious approach.

He underlined the UAE’s ongoing efforts to promote coexistence and moral values through comprehensive legislation and well-structured programs designed to prepare qualified religious leaders for modern challenges.

The ministerial meeting addressed key issues affecting Gulf societies, including family dynamics, generational values, intellectual security, responsible AI use, and environmental conservation.

Through its participation, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to aligning technological progress with ethical and spiritual development, ensuring innovation continues to serve the greater good.
