The economic partnership between the UAE and Cambodia is gaining new momentum as business leaders highlight the transformative potential of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement that came into force earlier this year.
The accord is positioned to raise non-oil trade beyond US$1 billion by 2030 and deepen the UAE’s access to ASEAN markets while supporting Cambodia’s diversification goals.
Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, said the agreement offers a strategic gateway for both countries. Speaking at the “Doing Business with Cambodia” forum, he explained that CEPA paves the way for stronger commercial flows and positions Cambodia to integrate more deeply into the GCC hub.
Kith Meng noted the significance of the Dubai Chamber delegation’s recent visit to Phnom Penh under the New Horizons programme. He said the presence of companies spanning oil and gas, construction, food and beverages, and healthcare signals rising Emirati interest in the Cambodian market.
Priority opportunities for UAE investors include infrastructure and logistics, a sector Cambodia is rapidly expanding to enhance its role as a regional transport hub. Tourism and renewable energy are also drawing attention, with demand increasing from the Middle East and new projects aimed at reducing industrial power costs.
He added that cooperation in the digital economy is accelerating, driven by FinTech investments that support smoother cross-border trade and improved payment systems. Training centres that develop skilled labour for Cambodia’s growing industries are further strengthening economic links.
Kith Meng emphasised Cambodia’s robust economic growth, favourable policy environment, and new investment law offering incentives and tax holidays. He encouraged UAE businesses to pursue partnerships, affirming that the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce stands ready to support market entry and expand bilateral cooperation.
