Tomorrow, the UAE will join the global community in celebrating International Youth Day 2024 under the theme "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development."

This annual event, observed on August 12, highlights the critical role of youth in driving sustainable human development and emphasizes the importance of engaging young people in the global dialogue.

The UAE has made significant strides in empowering its youth, a vision championed by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The country's youth empowerment strategy has seen young Emiratis taking on increased roles in decision-making and contributing to the nation's comprehensive development. The National Youth Agenda 2031, approved in May 2024, is central to this effort, aiming to position Emirati youth as global role models and key contributors to economic and social progress.

The Agenda focuses on five pillars, including youth contributions to national economic growth, community involvement, global influence, technological proficiency, and overall well-being. It also aims to qualify more than 100 young Emiratis to represent the UAE in global forums and to provide 100% suitable career pathways for youth.

The UAE's commitment to youth empowerment extends beyond its borders. Initiatives like the Arab Youth Center, launched in 2017, support young people across the Arab world by developing their capabilities and fostering innovation. Programs like the Arab Youth Hackathon and the Young Arab Diplomatic Leaders Programme aim to groom a generation of Arab leaders equipped to shape the future.

The UAE also prioritizes youth involvement in governance, mandating federal government entities to include young Emiratis under 30 on their boards. The Federal Youth Authority has launched various initiatives to engage youth in national development, including the Youth Councils and the Youth Engagement Policy.

As the UAE celebrates International Youth Day, it continues to invest in its youth, ensuring they are equipped with the skills, opportunities, and support needed to lead the country into a prosperous future.
