The Weapons and Hazardous Substances Offices of the Supreme Council for National Security, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, has officially concluded its three-month initiative aimed at registering unlicensed firearms across the UAE.

Launched under the slogan “Your Home is Safe, Registration is Assurance”, the campaign invited citizens to declare and register their unlicensed weapons and ammunition without facing legal consequences—provided registration was completed within the stipulated timeframe.

The initiative saw notable public engagement, reflecting widespread awareness of the legal and safety risks tied to unlicensed firearms. Citizens were offered several options, including legal licensing, voluntary surrender, or safe deactivation for heritage preservation.

Mohamed Suhail Al Neyadi, Director-General of the Weapons and Hazardous Substances Office, confirmed the initiative had achieved its key goals: enhancing national security, educating the public on the dangers of unlicensed weapons, and enabling citizens to comply with the law safely. He lauded the community’s cooperation, which he said reinforces the UAE’s position as one of the world’s safest nations.

Brigadier Abdulrahman Ali Al Mansouri, Acting Director of the Weapons and Explosives Directorate at the Ministry of Interior, credited the initiative’s success to the seamless coordination between entities and the use of digital platforms. Citizens accessed services via the MOI UAE smart channels, a dedicated website (www.moi.gov.ae), and a toll-free hotline (800233).

The initiative’s official social media channel, @aldaraman.ae, played a crucial role throughout the campaign, offering comprehensive guidance and real-time updates, contributing to a smooth and informed registration process.

The campaign marks a significant step in promoting responsible firearm ownership and reinforcing the UAE’s long-standing commitment to public safety and legal compliance.
