The meeting, chaired by Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, brought together Council members alongside global technology leaders at the world’s largest innovation event, featuring over 6,800 companies and 2,000 startups from 180 countries.

Al Olama emphasised that the UAE continues to strengthen its global AI competitiveness through proactive policies, innovative models, and AI-driven projects that support national development and improve government performance. He noted that GITEX provides a platform to showcase success stories, explore collaborations, and expand AI adoption across sectors.

The Council reviewed progress on the UAE Artificial Intelligence Award 2025, which received over 312 nominations from more than 170 organisations, including government, private, and academic institutions. The award encourages the adoption of innovative AI solutions and positions AI as a driver of institutional empowerment, community integration, and economic growth.

Key initiatives from the Energy and Natural Resources Committee were also discussed, focusing on AI adoption to enhance energy and water efficiency, strengthen global competitiveness, and develop sustainable solutions. Projects like the Unified Infrastructure and Energy Data Platform and the National Green Certificates Programme were highlighted for their impact on operational efficiency.

The Intellectual Property Sector Committee presented initiatives to increase patents and trademarks, promote AI transparency through the AI-Utilization Index in Patents, and support global standards for AI-related innovations. Meanwhile, the Industry and Advanced Technology Committee reviewed programs to integrate AI into industrial operations, strengthen manufacturing competitiveness, and recognise innovation leaders.

Established in 2018 and restructured in 2024, the UAE Council for Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain continues to lead the nation’s AI strategy, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global hub for advanced technology and digital transformation.
