In a significant acknowledgment of its growing global influence in innovation and governance, the United Arab Emirates has been elected as a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Working Group on Science and Technology during the IPU’s 150th General Assembly held in Uzbekistan.
Ahmed Mir Hashim Khoory, Member of the Federal National Council (FNC), will represent the Arab Group in the working group. His election underscores the international parliamentary community’s confidence in the UAE Parliamentary Division’s expertise and its capacity to shape forward-looking science and technology policies.
The appointment also reflects the UAE’s continued leadership in integrating advanced technologies and promoting digital transformation to drive sustainable development. From AI adoption to green innovation, the country has positioned itself at the forefront of global efforts to align technological progress with sustainability and ethical governance.
Formed in 2021, the IPU Working Group on Science and Technology seeks to bridge the gap between lawmakers and the scientific community. Its mission is to promote the responsible, ethical, and sustainable application of scientific and technological advancements worldwide.
