For efficient management of each cinema, a workforce of 25 to 30 individuals will be necessary, resulting in a potential requirement of around 1,500 staff members to oversee the cinema operations.
Employment opportunities have surged in the UAE, experiencing remarkable growth in the aftermath of the pandemic. Lulu Group is strategizing to establish 50 cinemas across the country, while also intending to hire a substantial number of employees in the forthcoming years.
Line Investments & Property, a subsidiary responsible for shopping mall development and management under Lulu Group International, has entered into a partnership with Star Cinemas to oversee the cinemas. These theaters are set to feature a diverse array of movies in languages such as Arabic, Hindi, English, and more.
"Currently, we possess cinemas within malls. However, we are extending our collaboration with Star Cinemas as they are introducing a broad spectrum of films to the GCC region. This partnership presents a favorable prospect to work together in the cinema operations,"
commented MA Ashraf Ali, Executive Director of Lulu Group International, subsequent to the recent agreement signing with Star Cinemas.
Ali disclosed that a substantial workforce will be essential as the group embarks on its plan to establish over 50 cinemas. Each cinema will necessitate a staffing of at least 25 to 30 individuals to oversee the facilities. Consequently, the total employee requirement to manage the cinemas is estimated to reach up to 1,500.
During the previous week, Line Investments & Property and Star Cinemas finalized an agreement to introduce 22 additional screens alongside the existing 76 screens operated by Star Cinemas. Noteworthy attendees included MA Ashraf Ali, Ahmad Golchin, the founder and chairman of Phars Film & Stars Cinema, as well as other officials.
Following the establishment of this joint venture, Star Cinemas has emerged as the second-largest cinema operator in the UAE in terms of screen count, as both companies jointly announced. According to the agreement, September 2023 will see the unveiling of 3 screens at Al Raha Mall, 9 screens at Al Wahda Mall, 6 screens at Al Foah Mall, and 4 screens at Barari Outlet Mall.
Additionally, the agreement encompasses the opening of Star Cinemas in Dubai Silicon Oasis Mall, Sharjah Central Mall, and RAK Mall in Ras Al Khaimah.
Golchin further revealed that work at Dubai Silicon Oasis would commence in the near future, with subsequent launches planned for Sharjah Central and RAK Mall.
