UAE Extends Arab Government Excellence Award for Four More Years

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Government has extended the Arab Government Excellence Award for another four years.

The strategic partnership with the Arab League will continue to drive performance and leadership in the region’s public sector.

The agreement was signed on the final day of the World Governments Summit (WGS) by Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and Mohammad Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the WGS.

Aboul Gheit highlighted the award’s pivotal role in motivating Arab governments to enhance efficiency and foster innovation. He stressed that it encourages governments to adopt bold approaches, embrace competitiveness, and push for excellence.

Al Gergawi reiterated that the award aligns with Sheikh Mohammed's vision to inspire innovation and excellence within the Arab public sector. He emphasized that the award showcases distinguished government initiatives that improve community services and quality of life, serving as a model for development across the Arab world.

Launched in May 2019, the award recognizes outstanding government institutions and employees who demonstrate exceptional, sustainable public sector performance. It encourages the adoption of global best practices, leverages smart technologies, and promotes positive competition among governments to improve service delivery.

Over its three editions, the award has honored 66 winners, recognizing ministries, entities, and professionals who drive innovation and deliver world-class services, aiming for continuous improvement in citizens' quality of life.
